Racism and Character

Racism is a parasite on the soul that infects it with intolerable violence.

In America, racism is a latent power resting in the psyche of people who would prefer to deny they are racist; fearing to battle the demon that plagues their soul. Smiling faces only perpetuate the problem. The stronghold of racism is so deeply embedded in history, language, society, and economic life that it’s like a poison in the veins of the air that we breathe. Racism is unnatural, it denies the image of God in other groups of human beings; for this reason it culminates in murder that displays a willingness to lynch (crucify) God.

Any response to another person or group prompted by the latent power of racism is like inviting death into the world. At the heart of America this dragon breathes, and it must be killed. We can start by acknowledging that racist hate groups have no right to exist; passing laws that prohibit their existence.

We must proclaim that greatness requires character forged in the furnace of suffering from whence all great souls arise. Great souls come alongside the suffering and oppressed; this is where Jesus is, and the church belongs.

Racism is a disqualifying position for anyone claiming to be a Christian.
