Life as a Contrarian

Question Everything / Hold onto Faith

A person who thinks deeply about reality and cares about humanity and how we are to live, who seeks to understand life, is a person who will challenge the status quo. Such persons are occasionally identified as contrarian personalities. Contrarians balance life with social intelligence due to their insistence upon questioning everything. Contrarians are generally high IQ souls who work hard in their thought life to produce a holistic and subjective view on reality. It is the imagination of the contrarian that is their greatest strength. If they develop the capacity to lead then they become effective agents for change in the socio-cultural fabric of private and public life.

Personally, I do not like labels that limit a human being to a defined perspective on behavior. These psychological tools have more limits than a human being does. Although helpful for thinking about one’s self and others, such tools are only tools and not the product; persons are not produced by tools but by thoughts, choices, faith and experience. We are individuals if we are mature; for the crowd ‘ochlos’ is fickle, mimetic without reflection, subject to self-preservation instincts, and prefer order rather than truth.

Jesus was the greatest contrarian personality to ever live. Jesus' social intelligence was unmatched, his courage to face the world honestly and nonviolently a picture of spirituality, he was / is the very image of humanity and God in one.
