Hearing God's Voice

Today if you will hear his voice…writes the author of Hebrews and in doing so scripture teaches us the perennial reality of God’s voice, ever speaking, longing, for those with ears to hear. God spoke and creation burst forth into existence. The sheer wonder of creation, of life, particularly of human life, should strike a reasoning soul with awe.

Life is God’s voice, death is God’s absence, God’s defeated enemy whose end draws near.

We would be amiss to think that God’s voice is merely, or only, likened unto vocal projections and physical hearing. Through a myriad of ways God opens our heart and fills our minds until we discern clarity that only comes to the one who has trained their ears to hear.

We are souls creatively forged in God’s unfathomable light, we are godlike, and we all know we are made to do justice, love kindness, and walk with the exalted one who humbly walks with us.

To defy the inwardness of the divine stamped upon the conscience of our soul results in kicking against the goad of shame that warns us to discipline our freedom.

Seeking the divine we long for wisdom to navigate a crooked world. We seek the wisdom that is divine and calls us to transcend ourselves, to rise above the moment, to be as magnanimous as God’s grace. Revelation comes when we touch the resurrected Lord Jesus through our pursuit of wisdom, of understanding, of scripture, of knowing the Lord, a pursuit that is all consuming, a pursuit beyond formulation, resulting in conviction that is a demonstration of immovable love and unqualified forgiveness all present in the brokenness of our lives and the crookedness of our world.
